A quick disclaimer on this article, I am by no means a wine connoisseur. I am not going to be telling you about any hints of oak, chocolate, berries or fruit in this wine that has obviously been crafted by a true Johnny Cash fan (which is why it is on this blog). I am a simple man and can only say in simple terms that the Ring of Fire Red, from McRitchie Winery, is a very good red wine. For those that are interested, according to their website, it is a blend of the Bordeaux varieties of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.

Ring of Fire Wine by McRitchie Winery

I discovered this wine during a show we performed last year in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. It was a large farmers market type of an event and we heard rumors that there was a winery present that had a Ring of Fire wine. So the obvious thing to do was to call it out over the PA when we started to perform Ring of Fire. Thirty seconds later we were shocked to see an open bottle of Ring of Fire along with 5 red solo cups appear on the stage. It was very nice! On a beautiful North Carolina afternoon, playing Johnny Cash music, everyone in the band except Brookley (underage at the time!) got to enjoy a fine glass of Ring of Fire Red. Does it get any better than that? After the show we all found McRitchie's booth, picked up a few more bottles and took a quick picture:

So if you like wine and are a Johnny Cash fan, you need to have at least one bottle of this wine in your house. You can pick it up online at their website - www.mcritchiewine.com.

If you get a bottle, leave us a comment and let us know how you like it.

We will be performing at the winery in June (6/28/14) at their annual Ring of Fire Festival. So if you are in the area, come enjoy a Ring of Fire trifecta; have a glass of Ring of Fire Red at the Ring of Fire Festival while listening to Ring of Fire! Sounds like a perfect day. We look forward to seeing you there.
